MRM/Driving Behavior As One

Check this out!  Qualcomm and GreenRoad are working together and they have created a device that actually monitors “safety and driving behavior.”  Called the MRM/Driving Behavior Solution, it is the first in existence of one mechanism that sends feedback information about mobile resource management and driving behavior management from one source of data.  Very cool indeed!

Do you know what this means?  It means that fleet owners have a more simplified process of gathering information from their trucks and save money as well.  As the article states;

“Qualcomm’s Service Fleet Manager mobile resource management system uses GPS technology to give fleets visibility into their assets and provide an immediate snapshot of critical vehicle information through a web-based interface.”

Earthtimes.org wrote an article about the MRM/Driving Behavior Solution, and interviewed Norman Ellis.  He is quoted as saying:

“Mobile resource management and driver safety are vital issues to every local service fleet,” said Norman Ellis, vice president of sales, services and marketing at Qualcomm Enterprise Services.  “GreenRoad’s unique driving behavior service offers a different dimension to our mobile resource management offering, enabling our customers to obtain more value from each of the two services.  We are proud to work with GreenRoad and offer the first combined mobile resource management and driving behavior service.”

If one of a fleet owner’s Truck drivers take a risk that could hurt people or their truck, the information is instantly sent back to the office so that someone is aware and can take immediate action.  This is a wonderful program that may save lives.

Save money and have more access to truck information to protect from hazardous driving and mechanical problems.  That’s a win-win for me!

Why Do Guys Like Monster Trucks?

So, as a girl, I am at a loss about monster truck driving.  I just don’t get it.  Is it a guy thing?  Some kind of testosterone building, man connecting to another man type of thing?  I mean, when these monster truck shows come to town, the seats are packed and it’s almost impossible to get tickets!  Why?

To me personally, it’s to loud, smells like man sweat, and too crowded for me.  Why would a man take a girl on a date to one of these things?  And even worse, why would a girl accept?  I’m sure some girls really like this stuff, but it’s not me.  I really, REALLY, don’t like monster truck shows.

Just the commercials for these shows put me over the top.  Big, I mean HUGE trucks with fire spitting out the back rolling over little harmless cars.  Why?  Because they can?  And what about those really big tires?  The bigger they are, the more cars they can crush?  Really?  Again, it must be a testosterone thing.  I just don’t get it.

Trucks painted to scare the living heck out of people.  I even get scared just looking at them.  Pictures of skeletons, and eyes painted on the front to eye down its next little car prey.  If that isn’t enough, what about their names?  Names like Killer, Executioner, Your Worst Nightmare, and Crusher.  It’s gruesome, I tell you!

Trucks flying through the air, little innocent cars getting run over by Monster Trucks, Fire scorching the ground from their rear end, Mean looking colors painted for a fear factor, and names stating their vengeance on mankind.

Whatever!

Are Truckers Undervalued?

A recent survey by the Trincon Group (an Ohio-based consulting company) was conducted at truckstops throughout the country determine whether or not truckers feel they are respected and valued.  The survey found that approximately 50% of truckers feel their profession suffers from a continual lack of respect and that yes, truckers as a whole are downright undervalued.

Do you agree?  Are you given the respect you feel you deserve or should truckers be given more respect and valued far more than they are considering they are the foundation of the American economy?  Truckers, after all, are the only ones who can deliver goods directly door-to-door.  No other mode of transportation can claim that.
